social bookmarking
Yesterday, I was seeking out new blogs in the area of knowledge management to beef up my Bloglines account - I’m on a committee at MPOW to examine our KM capabilities and figured it would be good to read more in the area.
One of the blogs I found, roxomatic had an interesting list of arguments for social bookmarking.
His first argument is the one I used for myself when I finally bothered to open up my own del.icio.us account last week. I’m not uninterested in collaborating with others, but the spirit of collaboration wasn’t enough to make me start up an account. What did inspire me was a necessity - occasionally I need to access work stuff while I’m away from my computer, and a social bookmarking service is the easiest way to keep track of those bookmarks.
At first, the only bookmarks I had were the ones strictly related to work, but now I’ve added search engines, roxomatic’s article, and even a recipe for white chili that I plan to make next week.
I doubt that many other people in the blogosphere were as slow as me to adopt social bookmarking, but if there are any, or people you’re trying to convince, I recommend sending them to this list.
